After a tumultous weekend in Toronto I thought I would take the time to express my feelings on the events. I’m not a political person I am simply a people person so my views and comments are from that perspective. How is it that 1.2 billion dollars can be spent on security to protect 20 non-Canadians and not help the local shops that were vandalised? Are we not worth the government’s dollar? I mean our dollar, for we paid for all this did we not? Now if you are upset about the costs to orchestrate this political power trip and think that lighting police cars on fire or smashing windows is some sort of revolt you are sadly mistaken. Those actions are exactly what “they” hoped and planned for. Those actions give them the justification to spend our dollar to militarize the police department. It gives them justification to maintain that force on the streets of Toronto. It also gave the system the opportunity to push the boundary on our privacy. How many people were stopped to provide id and be searched with no regard to their rights? I’m sure some of you may say “well if you were down there you ask for it” But is it not our democratic right to protest or to bring our issues to a world stage such as the G20 in a peaceful manner? Lastly, what was really accomplished by the people this past weekend? Nothing.
Besides the rush of being down there and fooled into believing you were being heard not much can credited to the good guys this round. Canada has always been displayed as a peaceful and passive country. All this weekend did was give the world and its leaders a glimpse at what their power structure is capable of. It allowed our government to bully us and use us to impress its visitors. If we truly want to affectively make a mark at events like this be it positive or negative organization is crucial! Anyone can be fooled to believe he or she is a rebel in a cause but it takes discipline, organization, and passion to be a revolution and purposely make change. We are in troubled times and must remain our head don’t let them play tricks on you.

I remember when Marcos first contacted me about doing a video for one of my songs and it wasn’t until a year later that i replied. We met and talked about everything from hip hop to movies, books, philosophy, religion, life in general. So i agreed to shoot a video without ever seeing his work. Marcos is one of those cats that values his word and his art and makes it a clear reflection of who he is. We worked on the videos for Journey and One2check and laid out tons of ideas for many more that funds couldnt reach. Now mister Fantu has shot his first short film and I’m so excited to see it and share this preview with you.
Pay attention now because my homie Fantu is Oscar bound.

WoW!!! This song from the music to the lyrics and the video! Hip hop at its best!! This is some really inspiring stuff from The Legendary Roots Crew.
God is always a touchy subject yet we are so bold when expressing our views on it in hip hop. I sometimes too find it hard to believe in but i’m a man who builds off vibration. So to me God is a feeling more than a belief. Black thought and the hardest working band in showbiz made me feel this yall! Word to God!!

My first father’s day started with my wife and daughter waking me up with smiles, card and my gift. My daughters smile is the most beautiful thing man! Now she is also starting to laugh out loud which makes her shine! It’s crazy how you can fall in love with your child to the point that they become your entire focus. All your actions will affect them. That got me thinking. Naturally as a father my responsibilities are to provide, protect, love etc. But, as we grow and become more responsible we tend to let go of our dreams or put them on the backburner. So I have been asking myself “Whose responsibility is it to show my daughter to live her dream?” Should I let her find inspiration through others or lead by example?
I’m sure I’m not the first parent to feel this way. But it is a question I am determined to answer with every step I take. All in hope that when she is old enough to look back and reflect she can say her daddy did it. Not only did he do it but he did it for the right reasons and with sincere intentions. We all have dreams we chase and sometimes we wake up one morning and look into the eyes of a beautiful woman holding your child and realise your dream is here and now! Shaking your mind, body and soul to wake up and respond with the best of your ability. For that is the true meaning of responsibility.
I want to thank my daughter and my wife for waking me up every morning with smiles to light up my path. I promise to lead us in the right direction.
To my fans who I rather call my fam, I know it’s been slow on here and I apologize for not hitting you guys up on the regular. I’ve been setting things up to start a new project with my homie dj PhD so bare with me I will keep you in the loop. To all the fathers, mothers out there who can relate to this hit me up and share your thoughts.

Sometimes in the hustle we lose sight of things and end up stepping back or to the side to watch it go by. At moments like this people cross our path to encourage us to jump back in yet we still hesitate or even doubt our ability. If you are lucky enough you meet someone or maybe even more than one person that believes so much that they throw caution to the wind and just throw you in! Sink or swim brother. For this year’s Dj Stylus Awards I was constantly asked to submit to the “Who’s got Next” compilation which out of 90 submissions 15 were chosen! My track “Stay Building” made the cut and not only that to my surprise it was chosen by this year’s nominees as one of the Top 3 songs which gave me the opportunity to perform at the V.I.P. BBQ.
The experience was incredible, a chance to be a part of history in our music scene where we actually honoured and showed love to our local stars. Toronto is often plagued by the screwface mentality but the love and unity displayed both at the BBQ and awards show was motivating and inspiring. This year has been a great year for Canadian hip hop music not only for the attention we are getting but the quality of product we are representing with. So, after being a top 3 finalist for this years “who’s got next” cd which features King Reign, Tanika Charles, Saukrates, Kardi, Rich Kid to name a few I feel incredibly excited to start a new project.

I want to thank my people who have pushed me and thrown me back into this with their words and actions of encouragement and belief.
Thank you for being there. Now let’s build and let them know we truly got next!

Stay building is Louwop’s latest single off his album “The Great Escape” which boasts collaborations with Shad k, Zaki Ibrahim, and Theo 3 to name a few. Louwop is an artist who would rather let the music speak for itself but felt the need to drop a little insight on the song and its meaning.

“1986 april 24 was the day my family and I arrived in Canada from El Salvador, my parents, two siblings, one piece of luggage and duffle bag with $30 dollars to our name. Over the years this has been my inspiration to live a positive and fruitful life. Now as I sit in my home with my wife and daughter and reflect on how far we have come as a family unit I realise now more than ever I must stay building.
